Families dispute arrests in Peruvian kidnapping and quadruple homicide case

Families of five men detained in connection with the kidnapping of mining businessman Jenss Marty Lara Tantaquillay and a subsequent quadruple homicide are disputing the arrests. Relatives claim that the physical characteristics of the suspects seen in surveillance footage do not match those of the detainees. Specifically, family members noted that the individuals in the video appeared much taller and larger than the accused, some of whom are described as being approximately 1.50 meters tall.

One relative asserted that a detained individual was at home with his partner during the crime, claiming video and photographic evidence exists to prove his whereabouts. Other family members have called for a detailed review of fingerprints and video footage to ensure the correct perpetrators are identified.

In response to the discrepancies, Interior Minister César Astudillo stated that the captured individuals are members of the criminal gang ‘Los Pulpos’ and have confessed to participating in the crime. He clarified that the group’s roles included providing weapons, vehicles, uniforms, and conducting surveillance, noting that the gang consists of more than 100 members.
