Families in India and US seek justice in long-standing homicide and police firing cases
In India, Amarshibhai Sumra died by suicide after a 14-year struggle for justice following the 2012 police firing in Thangadh, Gujarat. His son, Pankaj Sumra, was one of three Dalit youths killed during a confrontation between the Dalit and Bharwad communities. While a Special Investigation Team was formed to investigate the incident, the family alleges that the investigation report has never been made public.
In the United States, Don Young is calling for the arrest of a suspect in the homicide of his 23-year-old son, Dwight Young, in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The suspect, who is the father of Dwight's girlfriend, claims self-defense, but Don Young alleges the shooting was an act of overkill. Despite the incident occurring three months ago, no charges have been filed, prompting the family to hire a private investigator.
