Families in Mexico and Bolivia hold commemorations for victims of violence

In Mexico, the Centro de Derechos Humanos Paso del Norte and local searching families organized a memory action at the San Rafael cemetery mass grave in Ciudad Juárez. Under the slogan “Identifying is also searching,” participants placed crosses and read statements to demand the identification of remains. According to the State Attorney General's Office, at least 117 unidentified bodies were interred in that location in September 2026. Activists are also calling for an inter-institutional table to develop a Missing Persons Law in the state of Chihuahua.

In Bolivia, the Asociación Departamental de Víctimas de la Injusticia prepared a traditional “Todos Santos” tomb in front of the Oruro courthouse to honor victims of femicide, murder, and infanticide. The association, which has operated for 12 years, reported 150 active cases. Legal advisor Norka Eliana Chambi noted a sustained increase in affected individuals and highlighted concerns regarding an increase in false reports against men, which she stated complicates the judicial context.
