Families in Peru demand justice for victims of violence

In Peru, families are calling for investigations into two separate incidents of violence involving young women. In the district of Cuyocuyo, a mother is seeking justice for her 15-year-old daughter, who remains hospitalized in Juliaca following a suspected sexual assault. The victim is receiving care in the gynecology department of the Carlos Monge Medrano hospital, while the mother has raised concerns regarding the initial medical-legal evaluation and alleged attempts by the suspect's family to obstruct the complaint with offers of money.

In a separate case in Juliaca, relatives of 19-year-old Mayumi Peralta Apaza are demanding answers regarding her death. Her body was discovered on October 8 in a rented room, showing signs of injuries allegedly caused by a sharp weapon. The family reported that several of the victim's belongings were missing and expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the fiscal and police investigations.
