Families pay tribute to Minehead couple killed in A358 crash

Two families have shared their heartbreak following the deaths of David Cozens, 52, and Karen Cozens, 60, in a fatal collision on the A358 near Combe Florey. The accident occurred on September 30 when their Mazda Bongo van collided with a Volvo lorry.

In statements released through Avon and Somerset Police, family members described the couple as beloved figures who enjoyed camping trips, walking their dogs, and watching banger racing. Karen’s family described her as an ‘incredible woman who had a heart of gold,’ while David’s son, Matthew Trebble, remembered his father as a ‘patriarch’ and a ‘jolliest of blokes’ who always put his family first.

The families expressed gratitude to the emergency services, the air ambulance, and three members of the public who attempted to assist the couple immediately following the collision.
