Families search for missing persons in Colombia and Mexico

Two separate cases of missing persons have caused distress for families in different regions.

In Colombia, the family of 29-year-old Harlinson Yibran Rivera, from the municipality of Paujil, Caquetá, is unable to contact him after he traveled to Cali for a vacation. Following a recent large-magnitude earthquake, the family fears that the seismic event may have disrupted communications or impacted his safety, though some acquaintances suggest he may be well.

In Mexico, the family of Gelacio Gerónimo Gerónimo has been searching for him for 12 days in the locality of Pomuch. Relatives have conducted their own searches through mountains and trails and have criticized the Fiscalía for failing to launch field operations, noting that authorities have only posted search notices on social media. A specialized search group from Campeche has joined the family's efforts, and the family has performed a Maya offering in hopes of his safe return.
