Family farming initiatives strengthen rural development in Brazil

In Piauí, Governor Rafael Fonteles met with family farming movements during a plenary session at the Fetag-PI training center. The meeting aimed to present the results of his first term and gather community suggestions. Fonteles committed to expanding public policies such as water supply, government procurement, cooperatives, and the distribution of equipment and seeds to improve rural productivity and income.

In Maranhão, a field day focused on family farming and sustainability was held at the Casa Família Rural in Barreirinhas. The event facilitated knowledge exchange between farmers, students, and community representatives. Supported by REPAM-Brasil, the initiative included activities from the ‘Mãos que Semeiam’ project, emphasizing sustainable production models and the importance of training rural youth to strengthen local communities.
