Family First urges Australian government to investigate Muslim Brotherhood
The Australian political party Family First has called on the federal government to investigate and potentially criminalize the Muslim Brotherhood within Australia. National Director Lyle Shelton issued the request, backing a proposal made by British historian Lord Andrew Roberts during a gala dinner at the Centre for Independent Studies in Sydney.
Family First is urging the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and other relevant agencies to review the Brotherhood’s multimedia enterprises, corporate portfolios, charities, and non-governmental organizations to determine if they meet legal thresholds for banning. The party seeks greater scrutiny of overseas influence, funding, and extremist propaganda.
While the party has not named specific Australian organizations as affiliates, the call follows discussions regarding Islamic fundamentalist sources of antisemitism. Any legal action would require security agencies to evaluate whether the group or its affiliates meet the statutory requirements for official listing under existing Australian law.
