Children of the ‘famiglia nel bosco’ to return home briefly

The children of the so-called ‘famiglia nel bosco’ (family in the woods) are set to return to their home in Palmoli for a few hours next week. This development follows a meeting between parents Catherine and Nathan Trevallion and social services.

Lawyer Simone Pillon announced that while the news is a positive step, the legal team intends to appeal the court's decision. The defense argues that the ruling by the Juvenile Court of L'Aquila is too cautious and fails to protect the parents' constitutional rights regarding educational freedom and the children's health. They are seeking a full and permanent return of the three children.

The court has ordered a gradual reunification process. While the children will visit their home shortly, they are expected to remain in a facility in Vasto for now, with overnight stays potentially beginning in October. A new social worker has been added to the professional team to support this transition, though existing staff members remain involved in the case.
