Family of 16-year-old student demands answers after death at school

Family members of 16-year-old student Junior Rafael Reynoso Almonte brought his coffin to the Liceo Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo to demand answers regarding his death. The family alleges negligence by school authorities following an incident at the educational center that resulted in the teenager suffering severe head injuries.

While the school initially attributed the death to an accidental fainting spell on the court, students have provided conflicting testimonies, claiming a teacher was not supervising the area at the time. The Prosecutor's Office of Las Caobas has launched an investigation and summoned the school's administration, several teachers, and a physical education instructor.

Community members and relatives are calling on the Ministry of Education to intervene and evaluate the school's management of the situation. The official cause of death remains under investigation, pending a forensic report from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine if the injuries were caused by a fall or an assault.
