Family of Angelo Onorato opposes dismissal of murder investigation

The widow of Palermo architect Angelo Onorato, Francesca Donato, has filed an opposition to the prosecutor's request to dismiss the homicide investigation into his death. Onorato was found dead inside his car in May 2024.

Defense attorney Vincenzo Lo Re argues that investigators have not sufficiently clarified fundamental aspects of the case. The defense contests the official conclusion that the death was a suicide, citing several unresolved points:

• The accessibility of the area where the car was found, specifically whether pedestrian routes exist that are not covered by surveillance cameras. • Discrepancies regarding the vehicle, including a rear passenger door that remained open and an anomalous position of the seatbelt. • The presence of pine needles on the rear floor mats and the lack of fingerprints on the seatbelt. • The need for more thorough analysis of genetic traces found on twelve different items and a more complete review of the victim's personal and economic relationships.
