Family of missing French tourist in Nikko seeks tips after eight years

Tifenu Beron, a 44‑year‑old French woman, vanished on 29 July 2018 while touring Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, after leaving her luggage at a hotel. Police have searched nearby rivers and received 245 tips, but no trace of her has been found.

Eight years later, her mother, brother and sister travelled from France to Japan, distributing flyers at Tobu Nikko Station and JR Nikko Station and urging the public to provide any information, however minor. The family described the eight‑year wait as "very painful" and asked that her memory be kept alive.

The case remains open, with local authorities continuing to seek leads.
