Family offices shift investment strategies amid global risks

Global family offices are undergoing significant strategic shifts due to rising geopolitical risks and economic uncertainty. According to the UBS Global Family Office Report 2026, approximately 60% of family offices surveyed plan to change their strategic asset allocation within the next twelve months. This trend is driven by concerns regarding the US dollar's role as a reserve currency and high regional wealth concentration.

Key characteristics of these multi-billion dollar entities include long-term, generational time horizons and formalized decision-making processes, often utilizing investment committees. While 77% of family offices still maintain a core family business, there is a growing emphasis on diversifying portfolios to mitigate the risks of relying on a single asset.

In the Czech Republic, billionaire wealth is increasing, with the total assets of dollar billionaires growing by nearly 60% last year. Local elites are increasingly focusing on the systematic management of threats and the geographic dispersion of assets. Rather than investing solely in domestic markets, Czech capital is becoming more internationalized, participating in major European transactions across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and logistics.
