Family raffles car to fund R$ 182,000 scoliosis surgery for son

A family in Xaxim, Santa Catarina, is raffling their 2019 Chevrolet Onix Active to fund an urgent spinal surgery for their 13-year-old son, Paulo Francisco Agostini. The procedure is estimated to cost R$ 182,000.

Paulo suffers from severe and progressive scoliosis, with a 55-degree curvature in his thoracic and lumbar regions. While he was previously receiving treatment through the Unified Health System (SUS), the rapid progression of the condition and lack of improvement led the family to seek private medical care to prevent permanent complications and potential impact on his internal organs.

The condition has caused constant pain, forcing the teenager to stop activities such as capoeira, cycling, and physical education classes at school. The family is selling raffle tickets for R$ 50 each to reach their financial goal.
