Family seeks aid for child's leukemia treatment in Lima

The family of Jordan, an eight-year-old boy diagnosed with leukemia, is seeking financial assistance to travel from Arequipa to Lima for specialized medical treatment. After receiving care at the Hospital Regional Honorio Delgado Espinoza, the child has been referred to the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN) to undergo further evaluations and potential transplant procedures.

Jordan’s father, Alcides Gastelu, stated that the family—which includes the parents and three children—must travel to the capital to facilitate blood compatibility testing between the child and his younger siblings, aged 7 and 2. Because the family is originally from Juliaca and has no relatives in Lima, they face significant challenges regarding the costs of transportation, food, and lodging during their stay.

The family intends to present themselves at INEN this Wednesday for new analyses to determine the next steps in the boy's treatment plan.
