Family seeks President Sheinbaum's help for spider bite victim
The family of a 50-year-old day laborer in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, is appealing to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for urgent medical intervention. The man has been hospitalized for approximately 18 to 22 days following a bite from a violin spider (araña violinista).
Family members held a peaceful demonstration to demand specialized toxicology treatment and the necessary medications to treat the complications from the bite. They reported that the patient is currently at the Hospital Regional de Alta Especialidad, but they have faced difficulties obtaining specific medications. They also noted a failed attempt to transfer the patient to a University Hospital.
During a presidential visit to the area, the family was able to present the case directly to President Sheinbaum, who reportedly committed to assisting them in securing the required medical attention for the patient.
