Family sues to recover 34 properties allegedly stolen while owner was in a coma

The family of Luis Vázquez is pursuing legal action following allegations that his trusted attorney and employee, Maximiliano Teta, misappropriated 34 properties while Vázquez was in a coma. After suffering a stroke in 2016, Vázquez remained hospitalized until his death in August 2017 at age 80.

According to the family's lawyer, Juan Caimi, the attorney executed deeds at an unusual rate of up to four per day. The properties, located primarily in Ezeiza, include high-value commercial assets such as a supermarket, a service station, a lubricant center, and a well-known ice cream parlor chain. The family alleges that many of these assets were transferred to the attorney's relatives, including his partner, siblings, and children.

A significant point of contention is the declared value of the transactions; the lawyer claims the properties were sold for amounts representing less than 5% of their actual market value, which is estimated at approximately $14 million. The heirs are calling for an investigation into a potential illicit association. The judiciary has previously issued measures to prevent the sale or modification of the disputed properties while the legal process continues.
