Family Support Initiatives Launched in Bergamo and Locri, Italy

In the Basso Sebino area of Bergamo, the RI‑SCATTI project, run by Laboratorio Famiglie Solidali and funded by the Fondazione della Comunità Bergamasca, provides play spaces, art‑therapy sessions, shared meals and short‑term childcare for single mothers and families facing fragility, including many migrants. Weekly sessions take place in Sarnico’s parish centre, with cultural mediation and community‑building activities aimed at reducing isolation and supporting parental integration.

In Locri, Calabria, the municipality has opened the summer edition of the “Family Power” programme (July 6 – September 4) in the open‑air Villa Comunale. Financed by the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers under the “Educare in Comune” call, the project offers free recreational, inclusive activities, creative workshops and team games for children aged 5‑13. Coordinated by the Ambito Territoriale, it seeks to ease parental care burdens, promote social inclusion and combat educational poverty during school holidays.
