Family tourism trends show rise in multigenerational travel

Family travel is emerging as a significant trend in the tourism sector, with a Booking.com survey indicating that 59% of respondents plan to travel with family this year. Furthermore, 32% of those surveyed intend to participate in multigenerational travel, involving various age groups such as grandparents, aunts, and cousins.

Lara Ferro Braga Regadas, an architect and partner at Casa Lençóis, notes a shift where families prioritize shared experiences over material goods. She observes that trips are increasingly replacing traditional celebrations like weddings and birthday parties. This trend has led to a more active role for grandparents in family dynamics and a demand for destinations that allow parents to disconnect from daily obligations.

To meet this demand, tourism businesses are investing in personalized architecture and flexible service models. Casa Lençóis, located near Lençóis Maranhenses, utilizes a layered spatial design to provide both integrated social areas for group interaction and private zones for individual family autonomy.
