FamilyMart launches nationwide buyback service with Bookoff

FamilyMart has launched a new delivery buyback service in collaboration with Bookoff Corporation across approximately 16,000 stores in Japan. The service, titled ‘Famima de Kantan! Bookoff Kaitori’, allows customers to easily sell unwanted items such as books, CDs, games, clothing, electronics, and smartphones.

To use the service, customers apply via a dedicated website and pack their items. They can then bring the packages to participating FamilyMart locations equipped with multi-copy machines. At these locations, customers can issue a service application ticket via the machine and complete the process either through staff assistance at the counter or by using Famima lockers.

Logistics for the service are handled by Yamato Transport, while Bookoff is responsible for the appraisal of the goods. Once the appraisal is complete, funds are deposited into the user's designated account, typically within one week. The initiative aims to create an environment where consumers can easily participate in the circular economy by utilizing FamilyMart's extensive store network and Bookoff's expertise in the reuse market.
