FamilyMart launches Wakayama mandarin ice bar to support local farmers

FamilyMart is launching a new limited-edition ice bar, ‘Torokeru Kassoku Gyutto Mikan’, which contains 67% juice from mandarins grown in Wakayama Prefecture. The product, part of the ‘Famimaru’ private brand, is designed to support sustainable fruit production by utilizing ‘non-standard’ fruit—produce that is high quality in taste but rejected by traditional markets due to cosmetic imperfections like wind damage.

Starting September 15, 2026, the ice bar will be available at approximately 16,100 FamilyMart locations nationwide, excluding Okinawa.

In conjunction with the product launch, a ‘Wakayama Fair’ will be held at roughly 2,650 stores in the Kansai region. This fair features three regional specialty products: a large plum and bonito rice ball, a matcha whip donut supervised by Gyokurin-en, and Wakayama-style Chinese soba supervised by the renowned restaurant Ide Shoten. To promote local charm, stores in Wakayama Prefecture will also distribute stickers featuring the local PR character, ‘Ki-chan’.
