Janssen’s booking agent, Zachary Avino, posted on Facebook that no measuring device was ever involved and that the fan was simply asked to follow Janssen’s standard photo‑op policy, which prohibits hugging or an arm around her waist. He said the fan could stand beside her or place an arm behind the chair, and apologized for the fan’s negative experience.

The image sparked debate over celebrity boundaries at conventions. Some commenters called the alleged practice excessive, while others noted that guests often set personal‑space rules, especially after the COVID‑19 pandemic. The fan had paid $80 for the photo opportunity. Janssen has not publicly responded to the renewed attention.
