Famosa toy group faces revenue collapse amid pending Chinese takeover

Spanish toy manufacturer Famosa is facing a critical financial period, with recent consolidated accounts showing a significant decline in revenue. The group's turnover dropped from 142.5 million euros in 2024 to 67.9 million euros in the last fiscal year, representing a decrease of more than 50 percent.

The decline affected all business segments, including a nearly 60 percent drop in doll sales, a 35 percent decrease in outdoor games, and a 48 percent drop in plush toys. These losses resulted in a net loss of 32.9 million euros and a negative working capital of approximately 130 million euros.

The future of the company depends on the approval of a restructuring plan by the Court of Milan. This plan, proposed by the current owner Giochi Preziosi, would facilitate the transfer of ownership of the entire group to the Chinese company Superhisen. Although a binding agreement was reached in June, judicial modifications have delayed the final resolution.
