Fan Bingbing's high-budget drama Ba Thanh Truyện remains unreleased

The high-budget Chinese historical drama Ba Thanh Truyện, produced by Tangde Pictures, remains unreleased despite an investment of approximately 500 million NDT. Originally expected to be a major success starring Fan Bingbing and Cao Yunxiang, the project has faced a series of setbacks.

Initial difficulties arose from controversies regarding historical accuracy. The situation escalated in 2018 when male lead Cao Yunxiang became involved in a legal case in Australia, forcing production to attempt a replacement. Li Chen was reportedly brought in to film additional scenes to substitute for Cao, a process estimated to cost an additional 60 million NDT.

Further complications occurred when Fan Bingbing became involved in a tax scandal, leading to a period where she was banned from professional activities. These consecutive crises have left the massive production in limbo.
