Fanatics granted iGaming license for Ontario expansion
Fanatics has been granted an iGaming operator license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), marking the company’s first major expansion into a regulated market outside the United States.
While Fanatics currently operates sportsbooks in 22 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., its entry into Ontario places it in a highly competitive landscape. The province’s regulated online gambling sector generated over $4.2 billion in gross gaming revenue in its fourth year, and currently hosts 48 licensed operators. Recent data indicates that over 91% of online bettors in Ontario utilize licensed platforms.
Industry experts suggest that because most operators offer similar game catalogs under the same regulations, success in the market will likely depend on app quality, customer service, and brand loyalty rather than the novelty of the games offered. Details regarding the specific launch date and platform rollout are expected in the coming weeks.
