FanDuel shares betting data amid regulatory scrutiny

FanDuel has released data regarding consumer wagering habits in response to legislative scrutiny of its VIP program and marketing outreach. The company is defending its practices by highlighting that the majority of sports bettors wager relatively small amounts and do so infrequently.

According to data shared by the company and cited academic studies, 60% of U.S. sports bettors typically wager $20 or less. Furthermore, 84% of bettors wager no more than once a month, while only 2.3% bet on a daily basis. FanDuel noted that its average sportsbook customer deposits money less than once a week, and the median monthly spend is estimated at approximately $63.

The release comes as lawmakers demand information concerning FanDuel’s use of personalized celebrity videos within its VIP program.
