Fano bans evening waste‑truck traffic and pushes for shared historic‑centre revitalisation

Mayor Luca Serfilippi and the Fano municipal council have reorganised the city’s waste‑collection service to prevent collection trucks from circulating through the historic centre during evening hours. Business groups Confcommercio Fano and Confesercenti Fano praised the move, noting it will improve the experience for residents, tourists and local retailers.

At the same time, the local Residents’ Committee has written to the administration demanding a transparent, inclusive plan for the €2 million of extra profits from Aset Spa earmarked for a historic‑centre revitalisation. The committee highlighted unresolved issues such as the long‑delayed Filanda archaeological site, the Via Vitruvio area, stalled construction at ex‑Sant’Arcangelo, and the deteriorating Leopardi and Marconi‑Paolini gardens, urging broader stakeholder participation.
