Fano implements new parking spaces and homeless shelter

The city of Fano has introduced several new urban initiatives to address local infrastructure and social needs. Following a redevelopment project funded by approximately 120,000 euros from PNRR funds, the Caserma Paolini area now provides 80 free car parking spaces and 25 motorcycle spaces. The project included removing old fencing, restoring paving, improving water management, and enhancing energy efficiency and lighting.

Mayor Luca Serfilippi noted that the city will evaluate introducing time limits to ensure vehicle rotation and prevent long-term abandonment of spaces. Local police have also been instructed to increase inspections, specifically regarding campers occupying spaces permanently.

In social services, the “Casa Roberto” center, managed by the Fondazione Caritas Fano Ets, will begin providing nightly emergency accommodation for homeless individuals starting October 27. Located at the diocesan pastoral center, the facility offers up to six beds for men and women in severe social and housing distress. The service is designed as a short-term 14-day emergency measure to facilitate coordination with social services and local associations.
