Fano Mayor announces new urban greening and wellness plan
Fano Mayor Luca Serfilippi has announced a new urban greening plan aimed at transforming the city into a “wellness city.” The initiative, expected to be presented by the end of the year, includes the redevelopment of several major parks, such as the Passeggi park and the airport urban park, as well as the potential creation of a new park in Sassonia sud.
The plan involves a census of the city’s tree heritage, increased planting in parking areas and streets, and the use of specialized agronomic expertise to manage urban vegetation. Following previous controversies regarding tree removal, the administration noted that over 200,000 euros have already been invested in new plantings.
The political group Fano Cresce expressed support for the direction of the project, noting that they had previously proposed motions for a green plan and tree census. They emphasized the need for long-term programming, including depaving efforts to reduce heat islands and strengthening the urban park system.
