Fano: Young pink flamingo rescued from beach

A young pink flamingo was rescued from the Sassonia beach at Bagni Gabriele in Fano on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The bird appeared immobile and exhausted, prompting concerns from beachgoers that it was lost or unwell.

The Wildlife Animal Recovery Center (CRAS) intervened to assess the bird's health. Experts suggest the flamingo may have been suffering from temporary exhaustion following a long flight, possibly originating from the Comacchio valleys, a known habitat for the species. Such sightings are considered rare for this specific stretch of the Adriatic coast.
