Fantagrottammare celebrates 30 years of fantasy football

The Fantagrottammare fantasy football league celebrated its 30th anniversary with a major event at the Circolo Tennis Beretti in Grottammare. For the first time in the competition's history, more than 40 teams and 50 managers gathered in a single location to conduct the auctions for the new season.

Founded in 1996 by seven teenagers as the Associazione Oasi Fantacalcio, the league has grown into a highly structured organization featuring four divisions with a system of promotions and relegations. Over its three decades of operation, the league has seen more than 200 teams participate and has overseen more than 15,000 matches.

The organization has expanded its reach to include participants from outside the local region, including members from Chioggia, and has successfully engaged multiple generations, including the children of the original founders. The league is noted for its early adoption of web tools for managing rankings and results, and it operates under a formal board of directors.
