FAO and journalists lead food hygiene campaign in Pikine
Health journalists and representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) conducted a food hygiene awareness campaign for female food vendors at the Pikine market bus station in Senegal. The initiative, organized by the Association of Journalists in Health, Population, and Development (Ajspd) in partnership with the FAO, aimed to promote food safety standards among local restaurateurs.
During the session, vendors expressed varying perspectives on hygiene responsibilities. Some emphasized the importance of following sanitary rules and utilizing provided wastewater drainage systems, while others noted that maintaining cleanliness in public spaces is a responsibility that should fall on local authorities and market management.
