FAO Representative calls for local action following World Food Day

Meshack Malo, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative to Ghana and Deputy Regional Representative for Africa, emphasized that the call to action for World Food Day must extend beyond official ceremonies in Rome to local communities worldwide.

Speaking at the World Food Forum (WFF) Flagship Event under the theme ‘Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow’, Malo noted that FAO country offices, particularly across Africa, are working with governments, media, and local stakeholders to translate global advocacy into practical engagement. The initiative aims to address critical challenges in food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture by leveraging science, technology, and local knowledge to build resilient agrifood systems.
