Faouzi Ghoulam reflects on his Napoli career and injuries

Former Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam has reflected on his career and his time with the club in a series of interviews. He recalled his decision to join Napoli in 2014 under Rafa Benitez, noting that he prioritized the opportunity to play for the club over financial stability or a guaranteed starting position.

Ghoulam discussed the high level of football played during the Maurizio Sarri era, describing a team that aimed to dominate opponents and maintain intense pressing. He also touched upon the physical toll of his career, stating he ‘left two knees’ to try and win with Napoli, referring to the severe injuries that eventually impacted his playing time.

Additionally, Ghoulam spoke about his relationship with former teammate Kalidou Koulibaly, whom he described as a brother and a person of great wisdom. Regarding his future, the former left-back is currently studying at Coverciano to pursue careers in both coaching and club management.
