Far EasTone launches AI-powered scam call identification service

Far EasTone Telecom has announced a partnership with cybersecurity firm Trend Micro to launch a “Call Reminder” service designed to combat telecommunications fraud and harassment. Starting in October 2026, the service will be rolled out to all subscribers, including monthly and prepaid users, without requiring manual application or additional monthly fees.

The system operates at the core network level, utilizing AI algorithms and big data analysis to identify suspicious numbers in real-time. When a high-risk call is detected, the mobile screen will display labels such as “suspected scam,” “high-frequency reported number,” “harassment,” “commercial solicitation,” or “loan solicitation.” To prevent users from missing legitimate communications, the system will also display specific department names for official Far EasTone service lines, such as customer service or billing notifications.

For users requiring more stringent protection, such as the elderly or children, Far Eastone is introducing a “Limited Calls” value-added service for 10 TWD per month. This feature allows users to set a “trusted caller list”; only numbers on this list will trigger a ringtone, while all other unknown callers will be blocked at the telecom level.
