FARC dissident front kills three and kidnaps four in Remedios, Antioquia

On the afternoon of 6 June 2026 a group of about 15 armed men identified as members of Front Four of the FARC dissident factions entered a farm in the Las Camelias rural area of Remedios, Antioquia. Wearing military‑style clothing and armed bracelets, the assailants set fire to two houses, killed three people and seized four others – a married couple and two farm workers. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 60 million Colombian pesos for the release of the hostages, while one victim remains missing.

Governor Andrés Julián Rendón confirmed the discovery of three bodies and said security forces have launched search and intelligence operations to locate the remaining captive. Human‑rights organisations warned that the attack signals a resurgence of violence by illegal armed groups in the northeast of the department and could provoke further clashes.

The incident has drawn criticism of the national government’s ongoing dialogue with the dissident groups led by alias Calarcá, with officials questioning the effectiveness of peace efforts amid the rising criminal activity.
