FARC dissident leader 'Marlon' resurfaces with threats against Colombian toll roads

Iván Jacobo Idrobo Arredondo, known as alias ‘Marlon’, a leader of the FARC dissidents belonging to the Estado Mayor Central (EMC), has reappeared in a video after being previously reported dead by the government of President Gustavo Petro.

In the recording, dated October 15, 2026, the insurgent announced a “political-military anti-imperialist campaign” targeting United States interests in Latin America and specific economic sectors in Colombia. A primary threat involves Colombian highway toll stations, which Marlon declared to be military targets unless their current rates are reduced by half. He characterized the toll system as a business that “squeezes the pockets of Colombians.”

The video also contains warnings directed at citizens, advising travelers to stay away from toll facilities to avoid potential armed actions. Additionally, the leader issued threats against U.S. goods circulating through Colombia. This appearance contradicts previous official claims made in June that the guerrilla leader had been killed during military operations in the country's southwest.
