FARC leaders to assist in missing persons search in Pitalito

Five former FARC leaders are scheduled to arrive in Pitalito, Huila, between September 21 and September 30 to participate in search efforts for missing persons. This initiative is part of the restorative sanctions imposed by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) on the former FARC Secretariat regarding Case 01, which involves hostage-taking and other serious crimes.

The individuals participating are Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri, Rodrigo Granda Escobar, Pastor Lisandro Alape Lascarro, Jaime Alberto Parra Rodríguez, and Milton de Jesús Toncel Redondo. Their involvement will focus on physical and logistical support, such as manual excavation, terrain preparation, and sieving, under the technical direction of the Unit for the Search of Persons Deemed to be Missing (UBPD). They will not perform forensic duties.

Pitalito serves as the first site for these sanctions, which are part of 79 restorative activities defined by the JEP across seven regions and 12 departments. The work will be concentrated at the San Antonio de Padua cemetery, a significant site for humanitarian searches related to the armed conflict.
