Farid Basharat enters free agency after UFC contract expires

Undefeated bantamweight fighter Farid Basharat has entered free agency following the conclusion of his contract with the UFC. Despite maintaining a 16-0 professional record and a seven-fight winning streak within the promotion, Basharat was removed from the roster after his most recent bout at UFC 329.

In his final appearance under his current deal, Basharat secured a unanimous decision victory over John Garza. During the event, Basharat revealed he had competed despite suffering a torn MCL and meniscus three weeks prior to the fight. Although he expressed a strong desire to remain with the organization and pursue a championship, he was not offered a new contract following the victory.

Basharat, who originally earned his UFC opportunity through Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series, is now free to pursue opportunities with other organizations, though a return to the UFC remains a possibility.
