Faridabad police arrest man for alleged murder of woman

Police in Faridabad have arrested a man, identified as Hariom, for the alleged murder of a 20-year-old woman named Nisha. The victim's body has not yet been recovered, as the suspect reportedly threw it into the Agra Canal.

The investigation began after Nisha's family reported her missing following a business trip to Kolkata in August. According to police, the suspect had a history with the victim, having previously arranged her marriage to his brother and later facing legal action for sexual assault against her in Mathura.

Authorities state that after being released on bail in January 2025, the suspect and victim's relationship intensified. When the victim began pressuring him for marriage, the suspect allegedly took her to Haridwar and subsequently murdered her near Deeg Bridge on the night of August 4. The suspect has been placed on eight-day police remand.
