Farmashop to launch IPO in Uruguay

The Uruguayan pharmacy chain Farmashop is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) after receiving authorization from the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU) to register its capital. The company plans to offer up to 49% of its shares to the public, while the investment fund Linzor Capital Partners will retain 51% ownership and control.

The official launch of the issuance is scheduled for October 27, with the placement expected to conclude by November 24. The operation will consist of two stages: a wholesale segment for institutional investors, such as pension fund administrators (AFAP), via the Electronic Securities Exchange (BEVSA), and a retail segment for small savers through the Montevideo Stock Exchange (BVM).

This move is considered a milestone for the Uruguayan capital market, as Farmashop will become the eighth company listed on the Montevideo Stock Exchange. Currently, the pharmacy chain operates approximately 155 locations across all 19 departments of Uruguay, employs around 2,500 people, and serves 1.2 million members through its Farmacard program.
