Velbert poisoning plot to be reviewed by Bundesgerichtshof
The German Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) will review a case involving a series of poisoning attempts in Velbert. Two women were previously convicted for targeting a man with highly toxic substances.
The 59-year-old wife of the victim was sentenced to life imprisonment for attempted murder, while her 60-year-old friend, a retired teacher from Fürth, received a four-year sentence for aiding and abetting. The women had reportedly planned the attacks over several weeks, using chat communications to coordinate the use of monkshood (Blauer Eisenhut) ordered online. The motive was linked to the man's intention to divorce his wife and his relationship with the accomplice.
