Farmer ID implementation shows progress in Katni amid technical delays in Sadak Arjuni
Efforts to implement digital Farmer IDs through the AgriStack initiative are progressing in parts of India, though technical hurdles remain for some. In the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, over 237,000 farmers have successfully obtained their digital IDs. This ID serves as a reliable digital identity, linking land records, livestock ownership, and crop data to facilitate the transparent delivery of government benefits, such as the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
However, in the Sadak Arjuni tehsil, approximately 1,500 farmers are currently unable to secure their IDs. This issue primarily affects those who purchased agricultural land after 2024, as technical and policy constraints within the AgriStack system have prevented the generation of new IDs for these individuals. Without this mandatory identification, these farmers face difficulties accessing various government agricultural schemes and services. Local officials stated that efforts are underway at the government level to resolve these issues for recent landowners.
