Criminal violence and homicide cases reported in Moldova and Romania

Multiple criminal cases involving violence and homicide have been reported across Moldova and Romania.

In Moldova, Ștepan Găină was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2011 murder of Iurie Pînzari. Pînzari disappeared after visiting Găină to collect a debt of 250 euros. His remains were discovered in January 2026 on the farmer's property. Investigators also identified the farmer's son, Alexandru, as a possible accomplice.

In Romania, several incidents of domestic and sexual violence have surfaced. In Vaslui, Flavian Vidineac is facing trial for a new rape charge involving a 30-year-old woman. In Curtea de Argeș, a 69-year-old man was placed in preventive arrest for allegedly stabbing his daughter-in-law. In Satu Mare, a man faces trial for assaulting his wife in front of their two children following a dispute over cigarettes and beer.

Other reported cases include a former police officer in Râșnov who was arrested for assaulting and threatening his wife, and a 38-year-old man in Vulcan accused of kidnapping and assaulting his partner for ten days to seize property. Additionally, Cătălin Grozavu has publicly addressed allegations regarding his relationship with Florina following footage of physical aggression.
