Farmers' Almanac predicts split winter for New England
The Farmers' Almanac has released its winter forecast for the 2026-2027 season, predicting a split weather pattern across New England.
According to the forecast, the southern portion of the region—including the bottom half of New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island—is expected to experience a snowier and more challenging winter. In contrast, northern New England, including the entire state of Maine and the upper two-thirds of Vermont and New Hampshire, may see a milder and drier season.
Central New England is projected to receive significant snowfall, particularly during mid-to-late December, mid-January, and from early to late March. The Almanac also predicts that the coldest period of the winter will occur in early to mid-January.
