Farmers blocked at Khanauri border appeal to PM Modi for Delhi march

Farmers protesting against an interim India-US trade deal are currently blocked by police at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana. Jagjit Singh Dallewal, chief of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Haryana government to allow the group to proceed with a peaceful march to Delhi on foot.

Protesting farmers have set up camp on the roadside at the checkpoint, where they were prevented from moving forward by heavy police barricades. Dallewal stated that while the organization has the capacity to mobilize thousands, they intend to proceed with a limited number of people to maintain a peaceful demonstration.

The protesters' primary demands include a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), farm loan waivers, and the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report. Dallewal has also called for legal intervention from the courts to resolve the standoff.
