Farmers end Khnouri border protest ahead of September 4 talks

Farmers protesting at the Punjab-Haryana Khnouri border have ended their four-day demonstration following an invitation from the central government to hold talks on September 4. Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a leader of the protest, announced the suspension of the movement, describing the government's invitation as a significant victory for the farmers.

The upcoming meeting is expected to involve senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss key agricultural issues. While the immediate protest at the border has concluded and farmers have begun returning home, Dallewal emphasized that the struggle is not over, noting that future strategies will be decided based on the outcomes of the September 4 discussions.

Prior to this development, negotiations with local administration and an invitation from Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had been rejected by farmer leaders, who insisted that only the central government could resolve their primary demands.
