Farmers in Constanza and Tireo seek government aid after floods
Agricultural producers in Constanza and Tireo, located in the La Vega province, have requested assistance from the central government following heavy rains and flooding. The floods have caused near-total losses for crops including potato, garlic, and lettuce.
Several communities, including La Cerca, El Haití, and Los Candelarios, have been reported as isolated due to the weather. In Tireo Abajo, significant damage has caused concern among residents and producers. Beyond agricultural losses, the flooding has impacted families who lost personal belongings and has disrupted local transport and commerce.
The Mayor of Tireo, Paul Amín Piña Báez, stated he is in contact with Presidential Management and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI) to coordinate relief. Local authorities are working to identify priorities and quantify the full extent of the damage to infrastructure and crops.
