Farmers stage unannounced tractor protest in Apeldoorn

More than one hundred tractors conducted an unannounced protest in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, to demonstrate against government nitrogen policies. The convoy traveled along the A50 and A1 motorways on a Wednesday evening.

Although the demonstration was not registered with the municipality as required by law, the police chose to facilitate and escort the procession to ensure safety and monitor the situation. Authorities stated that they did not intervene because there was no evidence of violence, destruction, or immediate danger.

The police and legal experts noted that the right to demonstrate often takes precedence over certain regulations. While actions such as covering license plates are illegal, law enforcement is often hesitant to issue fines or make arrests during protests to uphold the right to public expression, provided the situation remains non-violent.
