FarmX proposes ₹1,000-crore agri-tech hub in Odisha
Silicon Valley-based technology firm FarmX has submitted a ₹1,000-crore investment proposal to the Odisha government to establish an advanced agri-tech manufacturing and export hub. The project aims to position the state as a center for autonomous electric tractors, robotics, artificial intelligence software, and intelligent farm systems.
A delegation from FarmX met with Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev in Bhubaneswar to discuss the initiative. The proposed manufacturing campus is expected to create approximately 1,120 direct jobs and 3,700 indirect jobs in specialized technology sectors. The facility targets an annual production of 1,000 autonomous electric tractors and 100,000 field-sensing units for both domestic and international markets.
The proposal includes the introduction of the FarmMap platform, which utilizes satellite imagery, patented OSMO soil-moisture sensors, and a mobile application available in Odia. This system is designed to provide real-time data and automated irrigation advice to help farmers optimize the use of water, fertilizer, and pesticides.
